Non-Emergency Medical Transportation Assistance
Count on Center for Community Building, Inc. for our non-emergency transportation services. Based in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, we provide transportation to patients throughout the area.
In 2001, Center for Community Building, Inc., under contract to Hamilton Health Center, began providing non-emergency patient transportation services. Since then, we have provided more than 10,000 non-emergency medical and dental passenger trips.
We pick up patients at their residence and then make the return trip once Hamilton Health Center staff notifies us that the patient is ready. Return trip pickups are made within 15 minutes of the call. We continue to provide patient transport for Hamilton Health Center, Inc. to improve access and coordination of health care services for Dauphin County residents.
In 2005, Center for Community Building, Inc. became the Eligibility Center (EC) for Dauphin County's Medical Assistance Transportation Program (MATP). The EC is the single point of contact for all Medical Assistance (MA) non-emergency transportation services and is open Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. However, transportation services are available evenings, weekends, and holidays based on a preset transportation schedule.
Our staff works collaboratively with other community partners to coordinate services in order to address as many of the clients' needs as possible in an effort to promote the overall health and well-being of clients using the MATP transportation system.
Center for Community Building, Inc.'s staff is sensitive to the needs of the areas' diverse population and has bilingual capacity in English, Spanish, and other languages as necessary, using a language line. Our office's location is handicap accessible. However, most of the client contact is done via telephone, mail, or other electronic means.
We provide mobility management services for Dauphin County, coordinating non-emergency medical trips for more than 15,000 residents to enable them to access medical care. In addition to paratransit, van, and taxi service, we issue fixed bus passes and tickets, and provide mileage reimbursement payments.
All of our van drivers must be certified in Disability Awareness, and trained in Passenger Assistance and Defensive Driving. Hiring standards include Motor Vehicle Records Reports, criminal record check, and drug testing. Our Mobility/Transportation Coordinator is a Certified Community Transportation Supervisor and the President/CEO is a Certified Community Transportation Supervisor and Manager.
